In New York, the pay transparency law, enacted on September 17, 2023, requires employers with four or more employees to provide job descriptions and compensation ranges (either minimum/maximum salary or hourly pay) for designated job opportunities, promotions, and transfers. These ranges must be accurate at the time of posting, and employers must also clearly state if a position is commission-based. The law also prohibits employers from retaliating against employees or applicants who request this information
